Alliance Equity Discussion – Creating Welcoming Environments for All Students – 8/26 at 1 pm

Join a group of peers and colleagues from the early childhood community to engage in sustained learning about anti-racism, equity, and inclusion. The Alliance has established a monthly, salon-style Equity Discussion Group via Zoom, and the next session is coming up on Friday, August 26 at 1:00 pm.

In the August session, we will be looking ahead to the new school year and discussing how to create inclusive environments for students from diverse backgrounds, particularly New American students. The session will be facilitated by Shabnam Beth Nolan, Executive Director of the King Street Center in Burlington.

Email Taylor Hughey, Alliance Outreach Manager, at taylor@vecaa.org to register.

Universal School Meals and School Meals Applications

As a result of Hunger Free Vermont’s advocacy efforts this past spring, meals will continue to be free for every student in Vermont this coming school year.  Even though meals are free, filling out your Free and Reduced Price School Meals application is as important as ever.

Providing this information to your school helps them maintain free meals for everyone, regardless of income. In fact, schools need to collect completed forms in order to get access to critical funding that makes the program possible. Make sure you submit your application as soon as you receive it.

Check with your local school for more information and for copies of the application.

VTAEYC Launches The Exchange

With support from the Turrell Fund, VTAEYC has launched The Exchange, a new program that aims to inspire learning and action where young children intersect with society’s most pressing issues. The Exchange builds from the foundation created by the Turrell Fund’s Early Learning and Development Exchange in 2021 to focus on the impact of major topic areas on children’s early learning and development.

Through the Exchange's Fellowship program, cross-disciplinary practitioners engage with one another and their communities, creating lasting relationships and resources that support action on these areas of intersection.

Exchange.vtaeyc.org serves as an online home for the program’s resources and activities.

To learn more, get involved, and inquire about fellowship opportunities, visit exchange.vtaeyc.org or contact Ann Moore, VTAEYC Exchange Coordinator.
