Scenic America Names New Board Members

Scenic America welcomed three new members to its board of directors during its February 24 board meeting.

Brent Chamberlain

Brent Chamberlain of Logan, UT, is an associate professor in landscape architecture and environmental planning at Utah State University. A widely published computational environmental planner, he brings deep subject matter expertise on spatial data science as it relates to landscape planning, environmental perceptions, and urban development.

Marge Davis

Marge Davis of Mount Juliet, TN, was a founding member of Scenic America’s Scenic Tennessee chapter in 1987, and has been its president since 2011. She has been a member of the Governor’s Advisory Council for Keep Tennessee Beautiful and currently serves on the executive board of the Container Recycling Institute, a national research and advocacy organization. A prolific writer, she is currently updating her book, Sportsmen United, a history of the conservation movement in Tennessee, and has twice been named Conservation Communicator of the Year by the Tennessee Wildlife Federation.

John R. Hock

John R. Hock of Ballwin, MO, is president of Scenic America’s Scenic Missouri chapter and has served on the Scenic Missouri board of directors since 2006. He retired in 2016 from IBM after a 45-year career in IT development, systems engineering, and technical support. He is also an officer of Friends of Honduras, a medical, water, & community development nonprofit he co-founded with his wife, Marilyn, in 2013. Outside of his volunteer commitments, John is an avid woodworker, guitar player, scuba diver, ham radio operator, and pickle ball player.

Scenic America also acknowledges the extensive contributions and service of its outgoing board members, Ralph Becker of Salt Lake City, UT; Rachel Thurlow of Boston, MA; and Ardis Wood of Savannah, GA.
