Challenge: Fast from meat or palm oil on Fridays or throughout the Season of Creation.
The theme for this year’s Season of Creation is “the web of life.” Since palm oil plantations and cattle grazing land are two major causes of deforestation in the Amazon, we will explore the web of life by learning about connections between our consumption of meat and palm oil, biodiversity loss, and threats facing indigenous communities in the Amazon and around the world. Join us in this challenge, especially as we prepare for the Synod on the Amazon in October 2019.

Challenge: Choose one item each day to gift, upcycle, or donate while also practicing mindful consumption and simplicity of time.
As we enter into the Season of Advent, we also enter a time associated with consumerism and shopping. Challenge yourself to simplify and make space for prayer in preparation for Christmas this Advent. Collect one item a day that can be donated or recycled at the end of the month, and use our daily Advent calendar for ways to learn, pray, and act on the issue of mass consumption.

Globally, 30 percent of food grown is wasted, and food waste accounts for 8 percent of total global greenhouse gas emissions. This Lent, give up food waste! Receive weekly tips on how to reduce your food waste footprint and use prayer and advocacy resources on your Lenten journey.
