NC Child is seeking a graduate student for this paid Research Assistant position to work with the Parent Engagement Manager. The Research Assistant will analyze qualitative data collected by and with families who rely on Medicaid for their health care. Two out of five North Carolina children have health care thanks to the Medicaid program. Understanding families’ experiences and priorities will directly inform our advocacy for the robust health coverage program our children need and deserve.
This is a paid, part-time position, approximately 20-30 hours/week for 12 weeks. The pay rate is $25/hour.
More than 40% of all children in North Carolina rely on Medicaid for their health care. This position is part of a multi-year initiative at NC Child to listen to the real experts on children’s health care – parents and caregivers – to create our advocacy priorities.
Members of NC Child’s Parent Advisory Council (PAC) have interviewed dozens of parents whose children are served by Medicaid, to understand both the barriers and the benefits of North Carolina’s Medicaid program for kids. The Research Assistant will analyze the stories collected by PAC members, tagging and coding them to draw out and identify themes to help inform potential policy solutions and advocacy opportunities. They will also support NC Child and its Parent Advisory Council members with navigating this robust dataset to inform our health policy priorities and advocacy going forward.
