Should the NINR require that its permanent director be an RN?

New NINR job announcement says "no."

On Friday Sept. 13, the National Institute for Nursing Research updated the qualifications in the job listing for its permanent director position. The job announcement does not even require that a candidate for the position be a nurse. And the announcement allows applications by those whose doctorates are merely "relevant" to nursing ("relevant biological and/or behavioral science, health services, or social science disciplines").

We are now preparing to comment on the NINR's permanent job position. Please shape our request to the NIH on the permanent job qualifications by taking our 1-minute survey. Thank you!

Take Action

As you may know, a dentist has recently been appointed interim director of the NINR. But more than 3,000 of us have objected and asked the NIH to replace the dentist with a nurse.

Please click here to join our campaign to ask the NIH to appoint a nurse as interim director.

A non-nurse should not be serving in that spot for even one minute. Thank you!
