Lake Forest's Deer Path Inn Named Best Resort Hotel In Midwest

The English-style inn was ranked the top resort hotel in the region and the 66th best hotel in the world by Travel and Leisure.

LAKE FOREST, IL — The Deer Path Inn in Lake Forest was named the best resort hotel in the Midwest Wednesday by Travel and Leisure. The renovated English-style inn also tied for No. 66 on the magazine's list of the "Top 100 Hotels in the World."

"All of us at Deer Path Inn are overwhelmed with appreciation for winning Travel + Leisure’s No. 1 Resort Hotel in the Midwest," General Manager Matt Barba said in response. "As this award is determined by reader votes, we cannot thank the Lake Forest community enough for their continuous support."

The rankings were generated from results in the magazine's annual survey of travel businesses and destinations for its World's Best Awards. Hotels were either classified as "city" or "resort" for the purposes of the ratings.

The Deer Path Inn was built in 1929 in the style of a 15th century English manor house and is now managed by Charlestowne Hotels. In 2016, a renovation of the Tudor-style hotel expanded the dining areas, added modern amenities like an elevator and enclosed the veranda at its restaurant to create an all-season space.

Last year, the inn was rated the No. 5 top historic hotel in the country by USA Today. It has also received Wine Spectator's best award of excellence since 2016 and a Dirona awarded restaurant since 2001.

"The Deer Path Inn has been a Lake Forest institution for 90 years, and we’re thrilled to continue serving our loyal guests while welcoming new visitors to the inn," Barba said.
