Self Advocates Becoming Empowered has a new mini grant project about Home and Community Based Services or HCBS.  Our goal is to get information to self advocates and the people that help them.

We would like to invite your group or organization to apply for a mini-grant for local self advocates and community members for your state to learn about the rights these services give.
Deadline to Apply for this Project
Tuesday, April 25, 2023, before 5:00 PM CT

Support for Your Project
During this project, you and your group will use the resource titled This Rule Rules! The HCBS Settings Rule and You. This toolkit was created by ASAN as a guide to help people who receive HCBS services or waivers.

This project will create information tools that local self advocates and community members can use.  This will be a training project. This means you can make a presentation that tells people about your states waiver or HCBS plans
- Develop a training slide presentation
- Make a 2 to 4 page fact sheet
- Videos with 1 topic each, created with open captions
- Social media messages
- Graphics or picture art that explains HCBS information
- Activities to increase participation

You and your partners will present to local grassroots self advocacy and the local community your training about the different programs under your HCBS plan. You will develop and share information in Plain Language and Easy Read, and in other languages spoken in your community.
Some of the topics you will cover include
• What does the HCBS Rule say?
• What rights does the HCBS Rule give me?
• What rules do HCBS providers have to follow?
• What rules do states have to follow?
