Friend,

Interested in having your faith community go net zero but don't know where to start? Begin by measuring your energy use and climate emissions. Help us reach our goal of gaining commitments from 25 faith communities this Earth Month! We have curated an easy and totally free three-step path for your journey to net zero, beginning with benchmarking your carbon footprint.

Step One

Join a free webinar this Friday, April 30 at 12:00 p.m. Eastern time to learn more about the EPA's Energy Star Portfolio Manager and how you can transform your utility data into a powerful resource. Elisabeth Graffy, Professor at Arizona State University and Director of the Sustainable Energy, Equity and Knowledge-Sharing (SEEK) Project, and Thayer Tomlinson, Program Manager for the EPA's Energy Star Portfolio Manager for Small Business and Congregations, will offer insights on how the tool works, why it is useful for tracking your energy use and stewardship goals, and how you can use it to make decisions and show you're making a difference with your faith community.

Step Two

Interested faith communities may participate in free follow-up one-one-one sessions for assistance setting up an EPA Energy Star Portfolio Manager account. There will be two options available: Monday May, 10 and Tuesday, May 11, both from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. Eastern time.

During these drop-in times, trained students from the SEEK Project will be on hand to walk you through the process in real time and answer any questions you may have. Contact us for a Data Collection worksheet and take a look so you know what kind of information to bring along. No registration is required. People can drop in directly any time during this 4-hour period and find someone waiting to help them. The button below has the link to the Zoom room where you will be able to drop in:

Step Three

Finally, SEEK will conduct a workshop on Friday, May 14 from 1:00 to 3:30 p.m. Eastern time to provide assistance with entering your utility data. You must have your utility data in order to attend. Registrants will be provided with a list with detailed information about what information is needed.

We hope you and/or someone else from your faith community will take advantage of this opportunity to begin and/or continue your journey to net zero. Still inspired from Earth Day last week, we are excited to see more and more faith communities putting faith in action, tackling the climate crisis, and leading by example/inspiring other faith communities with your efforts.
