Ivy removal at Miller Bay Preserve
Join Great Peninsula Conservancy for our Second Wednesday Work Parties!
Miller Bay Preserve, located at the mouth of Grovers Creek, supports a forested ecosystem of western red cedar, big leaf maple, and red alder with a creeping understory of sword fern, Oregon grape, evergreen huckleberry and an occasional western wild ginger. These native plants provide vital forage and habitat to the otters, bears and salmon that frequent the preserve. Help us ensure the vitality of this habitat by joining us at our next work party!
What: Join your fellow nature enthusiasts in an ivy pulling bonanza! Clear ivy so there is space for spring blooms to catch some sun!
When: Wednesday, April 12th from 9am-11am
Where: Miller Bay Preserve – additional parking information and directions will be sent in an email when your sign-up is confirmed.
Accessibility: We will walk approximately 0.3 miles to access the work site. The trail at Miller Bay Preserve is not well cleared, so come prepared to walk over uneven terrain. We will operate hand tools including loppers and hand saws to remove ivy, which may involve bending and stooping.
