Driftless Paddling Tour: Jackson County

Take in the beautiful views of the Mississippi River, wooded limestone bluffs, and the town of Bellevue, meaning "beautiful view" for good reason! On this stretch of the river, participants will have the opportunity to paddle through Lock & Dam 12 as we paddle downstream. Learn more about the lock and dam system along the Mississippi as well as the wildlife that call it home.
Thursday, September 2 we will paddle from Spruce Creek Park (north of Bellevue) to Pleasant Creek Recreation Area (south of Bellevue) in Jackson County, Iowa.
The day will begin at Spruce Creek Park, on the north side of the campground, along the creek. Participants should be ready to go at 9:30 AM. If you are needing a shuttle, please be ready at 8:30 AM at Spruce Creek to get your vehicle to the end point (Pleasant Creek).

Paddle the Driftless is a multi-day paddling event August 30th-September 2 on the Mississippi River from Allamakee to Jackson County.
Enjoy paddling through the Dritfless regions of Iowa and take part in educational programs along the way. Learn about many aspects of the river community, including mussel and mud puppy research, turtle and fish populations, the return of the peregrine falcon, and the history of voyagers and more.
Monday August 30th: Allamakee County: New Albin to Lansing ~10 miles
Tuesday August 31st: Clayton County: Guttenberg to Mouth of Turkey River~7 miles
Wednesday September 1st: Dubuque County: AY McDonald Park to Massey Marina ~8.5 miles
Thursday September 2nd: Jackson County: Spruce Creek to Pleasant Creek Recreation~7 miles
Sponsored by Dubuque, Jackson, Clayton, and Allamakee County Conservation departments.
Participants can bring their own vessel or borrow a canoe or kayak from the county conservation departments. Cost is $10 per day if using county kayak/ canoe. Or you can bring your own and the cost is $5/day. Admission is non refundable. A full itinerary for each section will be provided after registration through email. This is a multi day paddle.
