Attacks on LGBTQ Equality
Across the country, lawmakers have proposed a record number of bills attacking LGBTQ communities, especially transgender youth, in recent years. Legislators argue these bills are meant to protect children, parental rights and religious freedom. But the influx has alarmed families and advocacy groups, who point to the dire results when children are denied adult support or gender-affirming care. They’ve been fighting the bills with mixed success through committee testimony or court.
