2023 YEAR END APPEAL

Dear Neighbor,

This year has been a year full of hard work and celebration for The Washington Environmental Council. We want to thank you so much for all of your support as we continue to grow and work to spread awareness and foster respect for our environment’s well-being. As we turn towards the colder months, we take time to reflect on our work and ask for your continued assistance.

This year, we were especially inspired by and grateful for all of the enthusiasm that we received at our Moon Dance. Our long-awaited 50th anniversary celebration finally happened after many years of postponement and it was a huge success! The town’s excitement and support for environmental stewardship was on display at the event and it was so wonderful to see. Not only did we raise money to help us continue doing the important work that we do, but we all connected and celebrated a shared desire to do good for our town.

In addition to our Moon Dance event this year, we hosted our Annual Roadside Clean-up and Earth Day event at Judy Black where students from Shepaug and Washington Montessori School shared environmental and sustainability projects. We continued our Harwood Lecture Series featuring The Frederick Gunn School’s new innovative science building and the careful environmental considerations they made in the process. We also awarded over $8000 in Scholarships for students pursuing studies in the environment and sustainability. We will continue to grow and spread awareness about both the No Idling Campaign and our Pollinator Pathway Project, both projects that directly impact and benefit the health of our environment.

As we look to the new year, we are determined to continue growing our work in a way that will benefit our town, our students and our environment. Your support helps ensure that we can continue to do the good work that is so vitally important. Please consider contributing to our efforts with a tax deductible donation that will go a long way in helping us to continue the environmental work that helps make Washington the special and beautiful town that it is.

Gratefully,

Holly Bailey, President
