Huarache Farms is a cooperative of local urban farmers in Sierra Madre. Our mission is to support local and sustainable urban agriculture and to serve as a community development resource.
We’re a diverse group of city dwellers, bringing fresh produce to farmer’s markets and our surrounding communities from our own backyards.
Our mission is to create a culture around small-scale gardening and cooking that transforms the political and physical landscape of Los Angeles into one of beauty and resiliency.

Our Veganic Methods
At Huarache Farms, we utilize hydroponics, water gardens, wicking soil beds, vertical tower gardens, and food forestry to grow food on a backyard scale.
Our farms emphasize a thoughtful approach to growing fruits and vegetables that focus on growing a diversity of plants, cover cropping techniques like covering soil with straw, amending with soybean and alfalfa meal, and applying seaweed extracts. We call our methods “veganic” and see it as more sustainable, healthy, and safe for our customers.

Come and find us at the market every Sunday from 9am-2pm. The market is located in the public parking lot, behind the shops on the south side of Glendale Blvd., between Larga and Garden Avenues. The address is 3528 Larga Ave., Los Angeles, 90039

Join Our Backyard Collective
We’ve partnered with technology startup, Sustaina, to expand our backyard operations. They’re helping us manage our custom online CSA (community supported agriculture) which supports multiple local food makers and backyard farms in Los Angeles.
