If I had to choose a theme for 2023, it would be ‘community’. Despite it being a challenging year, the Saratoga community has made great strides toward effectively meeting the needs of our neighbors facing homelessness. That trend will continue in 2024 with our Walworth Street shelter expansion and increased Code Blue winter beds. 

Last year, homelessness grew by 12% nationwide. Economic factors contributed to the deterioration of housing stability for vulnerable families. This trend is evident locally as we are sheltering more people than ever before. 

Our Health Home care management program is proactively assisting vulnerable community members and ensuring people we’ve helped overcome homelessness received the care needed to remain in housing. This spring, SOS will welcome nine new tenants at our supportive housing program on Ballston Ave., which will offer 24 hour onsite care and stabilization. 

Transforming the lives of our neighbors facing homelessness could not be done without the support of our community. We look forward to giving you a tour of our renovated facilities later this year!
