Alliance Steering Committee Retreat

On July 6, members of the Alliance Steering Committee came together for planning and fellowship at the Inn at Montpelier. Committee members discussed how the Alliance’s work and its relationship to coalition members might evolve over the next five years. It was a great opportunity to share ideas, thoughts, and possibilities for the Alliance's work in the years to come

 

VTAEYC Annual Conference – Awards and Sponsors

Nominations are open now for five new Vermont Association for the Education of Young Children (VTAEYC) awards that will be given out at their annual conference on October 13-14 at the Hilton Burlington Lake Champlain. Visit the VTAEYC website to learn more and nominate someone for an award. With the exception of ECE Student of the Year, you must be a VTAEYC+NAEYC member to nominate.

VTAEYC is also seeking annual conference sponsors. Conference sponsorships help make the event more inclusive and affordable.

Public Comments on Potential Premium Increases

Blue Cross and MVP have asked to raise health insurance premium prices in Vermont. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Vermont is asking to raise their premium prices an average of 12.3% for individuals and 12.5% for small businesses. MVP is asking to raise their premium prices an average of 17.4% for individuals and 16.6% for small businesses.

The Green Mountain Care Board must approve the premium price increases before they can take effect and is seeking public comments about these proposals.

The Vermont Early Childhood Advocacy Alliance is a statewide coalition formed in 2000 of early childhood professionals, parents, organizations, businesses, and strategic partners committed to improving public policies that impact young children between birth and age eight in the areas of health, safety, food security, economic security, and early care and education.

The Alliance crafts an annual Legislative Agenda in partnership with early childhood organizations, provides year-round advocacy support, and facilitates meaningful interactions with policymakers at key times during the decision making process.
