The Needmor Fund for Social Justice

is committed to funding organizations struggling for racial, social, economic, and gender justice.

To date, Needmor has invested more than $51,400,000 in funding community organizing.

Our Impact

Needmor invests in grassroots, membership-based community organizations that are democratically led, engaged in direct action campaigns, committed to leadership development, and that serve Black, Indigenous, and People(s) of Color (BIPOC) or otherwise traditionally excluded communities.

The groups we fund organize to:

1

BUILD LONG-TERM
COMMUNITY POWER

2

STRENGTHEN
DEMOCRATIC PROCESS

3

TRANSFORM

4

COMBAT OPPRESSION
& VIOLENCE

Our Commitment to the Midwest

The Midwest is a pivotal region that has a rich tradition of dynamic community organizing and coalition building.

Despite the region’s history and tradition of community, labor, and electoral organizing, there have been limited long-term investments in the Midwest from foundations.

In 2019, Needmor launched its Midwest Strategy, funding organizations across eight states in the region (Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, and Wisconsin). Needmor’s grantee partners build power across the Midwest, bringing together BIPOC communities and communities historically excluded from impactful investments in the region, but who are crucial to the past, present, and future of organizing in the Midwest.
