Cora Hall, who covers the Tennessee Lady Vols for Knox News, has been named the Rising Star award winner by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association.

Hall earned the national honor for women's basketball coverage. A USBWA news release credited her with regularly breaking news on one of the sport's highest profile beats.

Hall has been a fixture on the Lady Vols beat since joining the Knox News sports team in September 2021. She is a voter in the Associated Press Top 25 women's basketball poll. Hall also covers UT Olympic sports and assists in football coverage.

"Cora has established herself as an industry leader in women's basketball coverage, taking readers behind the scenes with the Lady Vols to deliver immersive reporting on one of the nation's blue-blood programs," Chris Thomas, sports director for the USA TODAY Network's South Region, said. "It's no surprise her work has resulted in this prestigious honor."
