Call for Proposals
The Pathways of Public Service and Civic Engagement describe a range of possibilities by which we can make a contribution to the common good. In the past months, Pathways Research Fellows have produced literature reviews that will be compiled into an edited book about the framework.

We hope to feature content from practitioners on their usage, visions, and reflections regarding the Pathways framework. We are excited to accept proposals for submissions regarding 1) Example Uses, 2) Future Possibilities, and 3) Notes from the Field.

For each section, we are interested in ways Pathways integrate with critical equity approaches and/or civic identity development.

Example Uses: Institutional, Programmatic, or Curricular Approaches (4-8 pages)
The book will elevate examples of Pathway experimentation and usage across institutions, departments, programs, and curricular approaches. We welcome proposals of:
  • Case studies and models showing how Pathways are used in classes, departments, institutions, and/or with community partnerships
  • Pathways within theory of change around strategic implementation of civic and community engagement
  • Aligning Pathways with course or program learning outcomes
  • Successes and challenges of implementing the Pathways at any level
Future Possibilities for Theory and Practice (4-8 pages)
Considerations for exploration and investigation are also encouraged, such as:
  • Possibilities for future practitioner scholarship and application around the Pathways
  • Pathways integration with Community College Guided Pathways
Notes from the Field Vignettes (~200 word reflections)
We hope to highlight short submissions regarding a range of experiences and perspectives using the Pathways throughout the book. Ideas include:
  • Lived experiences using Pathways framework
  • Practitioner’s journeys (faculty, staff, student, community partner reflections using Pathways)
  • Student experiences (student reflections using Pathways framework and/or specific Pathway)
  • Lessons learned
We are seeking proposals for 1) Example Uses and 2) Future Possibilities from a range of academic and practitioner-focused perspectives. If you would like to submit more than one proposal, please complete this form for each proposal.

Proposals accepted until February 10, 2023.

Proposals will be selected and notified in early March. Submission editing process will begin Fall 2023.
