TAKE ACTION: HANFORD

Thank the Washington Dept. of Ecology for Holding the U.S. Government Accountable for Cleaning Up Hanford.

Ecology’s move: adding the Waste Encapsulation and Storage Facility to Hanford’s Site Wide Permit, requiring the U.S. Dept. of Energy to create a legally enforceable closure plan.

Ecology’s proposal would also include changes necessary to move WESF’s 1,936 cesium and strontium capsules into dry storage and out of WESF’s dangerously aged infrastructure, reducing serious risk of catastrophic contamination to the Columbia River or the air.
