Dear Supporter

We continue to grieve the ongoing violence and loss of life in Israel/Palestine. Many of you are looking for tangible ways to engage your elected officials to encourage a response from the U.S. government that will help bring about an end to the violence and just peace for all in Israel/Palestine.

I’m reaching out today with an urgent request to call your senators now.

This morning, the Washington Post reported, Senator Bernie Sanders (VT) will introduce a resolution to block a recently announced sale, approved by the Biden Administration, of additional weapons to Israel. Sen. Sanders’ resolution is a companion to a Resolution Rep. Ocasio-Cortez (NY) has already announced she will introduce in the House. These resolutions are historic and need your support.

Right now, Congress and the Biden Administration should be focusing on brokering an immediate ceasefire and helping to seek a peaceful and just end to the conflict in Israel-Palestine. Selling additional weapons now will only lead to more death and suffering.

Congress has the power through what is known as a Joint Resolution of Disapproval to block certain weapon sales from moving forward. Senators must hear from their constituents now asking them to co-sponsor this resolution.  A sample script is included for your guidance below. We need to pick up the phones TODAY. Please call your senators now!

Call the United States Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and ask to be connected directly to your Senators. If you’re unable to get through the first time, be persistent! You can also find the direct line for your Senators here.

Sample Script:

Hi, my name is __ and I am a constituent of Senator X. I live in (city/town).

I’m calling to ask you to co-sponsor Senator Sanders’ Joint Resolution of Disapproval to stop the pending sale of $735 million dollars in Joint Direct Attack Munitions to Israel.

As a person of faith, I mourn the loss of lives in Israel/Palestine this past month. I am concerned sending additional weapons to Israel at this time will only bring further death and suffering.

Right now, Congress and the Biden Administration need to be doing everything they can to ensure the United States helps bring about an end to the violence and not contribute to further harm. As a constituent, I implore you to co-sponsor Sen. Sanders’ Joint Resolution of Disapproval.

After your call, please fill out this form to let us know how it went!
