What is the Housing Counseling Development Workgroup?
The MISMO Housing Counseling development workgroup is collaborating on a review of existing Housing Counseling data to create a unified MISMO Housing Counseling dataset. We have participating representatives from the Housing Counseling industry and their technology partners to ensure that our goal of industry adoption can be realized.
The benefits of a Housing Counseling dataset include:
- Providing Borrowers with an increased opportunity for homeownership
- Higher quality information about Borrowers being available to share with Originators before home purchase
- Higher quality information about Borrowers being available to share when housing counseling is part of the Default process
- Ability to track Borrower outcomes when Housing Counseling is part of their home buying experience
How to Join
Anyone may participate in a MISMO development workgroup or community of practice regardless of membership status. Voting members of Information Management and Architecture Workgroup are elected as per governance procedures. Membership in MISMO is open to anyone - mortgage lenders, banks, credit unions, servicers, vendors, government agencies and more. MISMO members receive a voice, and vote, in creating and enhancing industry standards used by the entire industry. Learn more here.
