Republicans Get Stepped-Up Farm Bill Role After Flipping House

The GOP will have more control of the 2023 farm bill after winning a majority in the House, with Republicans set to resist expanding nutrition programs or centering on climate in conservation programs.

Rep. Glenn Thompson (R-Pa.) plans to serve as chair of the House Agriculture Committee, moving up from his role as ranking member, while current Chair David Scott (D-Ga.) intends to remain in leadership on the panel, according to a committee spokesperson.
