21 new CASA volunteers take the oath in June

June 25, 2021 (Colorado Springs, Colo.) – Twenty one new community volunteers were sworn in as officers of the court in the month of June! Fourteen of these volunteers are now Court Appointed Special Advocates and seven of these volunteers are now Facilitators in CASA’s Supervised Exchange & Parenting Time Program!

The swearing-in ceremony was the final step taken by these citizens after 30 hours of training which covered topics like trauma, resiliency, poverty, mental health, substance abuse, domestic violence, and the role of the CASA volunteer.

Now, the advocates will be appointed to an open Dependency & Neglect case by a judge so that they may speak up for an abused or neglected child and ensure that child’s best interest remains front and center during court proceedings. These volunteers will be a steady and trusted presence for children who – due to no fault of their own – must navigate the child welfare system.

Congratulations new CASA Volunteers Latonia Bridges, Ann Fallon, Heather Hughes, Jessica Jones, Victoria Laird, Brent Libby, Allie Marek, Thomas McLaughlin, Angela Micheletti Anderson, Angela Otis, Chirtina Robinson, Jessica Sweet, Skyler Todd, and Cassandra Walton.
