BOARD/COMMISSION:  State Advisory Council on Early Childhood Education and Care

Two members of the house of representatives, one appointed by the speaker and one appointed by the minority leader; and two members of the senate appointed by the Subcommittee on Committees of the Committee on Rules and Administration, including one member of the minority will be members of the State Advisory Council on Early Childhood Education and Child Care. 

The State Advisory Council on Early Childhood Education and Care will be comprised of up to 11 additional members appointed by the Governor. Appointed members may be individuals with the following expertise, affiliations and/or backgrounds:

• Representatives of local government groups

• Representatives of local school districts

• Head Start expertise 

• Providers of early childhood supports and services

• Representatives of higher education

• Individuals whose families receive(d) early childhood supports or services

• Individuals from non-profit organizations involved in early childhood issues

• Members of the business community

• Representatives of the philanthropic community

The State Advisory Council on Early Childhood Education and Child Care will make recommendations to the Children’s Cabinet Advisory Council and Children’s Cabinet and fulfill the duties required under the federal Improving Head Start for School Readiness Act of 2007 as provided in Public Law 110-134.
