Microsoft Employees Partner with LWSF During Their Annual Giving Campaign

Microsoft employees volunteer at LWSF in celebration of Microsoft’s annual month of giving.

Each year, hundreds of community members volunteer with Lake Washington Schools Foundation to serve the needs of local students. That volunteer support was amplified last month, when six groups of Microsoft employees gave their time in celebration of Microsoft’s annual month of giving.

We were delighted to welcome several Microsoft teams at our Pantry Packs warehouse in Redmond, WA. Over the course of three days, these employees worked together to assemble a total of 2,073 weekend food packs. These bags of non-perishable, kid-friendly food will be distributed throughout the month of November to more than 900 food-insecure students in the Lake Washington School District.

Other teams at Microsoft gathered in-person or virtually to create letters and cards, expressing their gratitude for teachers and staff in our school district. Some of these employees have a personal connection to the district as parents of current or former students, and/or even as LWSD alumni themselves. These notes of appreciation will be shared with staff over the next few weeks.

In addition to volunteering, Microsoft and its employees have played a significant role in enhancing the Foundation’s ability to fulfill its mission over the years. Through employee giving, corporate matching and corporate sponsorship of our annual Spring Benefit, we are grateful for this unwavering partnership.

Here’s another way you can make impact. Did you know that for every hour a Microsoft employee volunteers with us, Microsoft donates $25? Many companies have employee giving programs that generously match an employee’s monetary as well as volunteer contributions to qualified nonprofits. We hope you’ll take a few extra minutes to visit our Matching Gifts page to see if your company offers employee giving grants — grants that could equal hundreds, or even thousands, of dollars for the nonprofit organizations and educational institutions you care about – like us!
