URBAN INTERNSHIP FUND (UIF)

The Greater Milwaukee Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, in partnership with Outreach for Hope, has established the Urban Internship Fund.

The Urban Internship Fund (UIF) seeks to cultivate future pastoral leaders who have a passion for urban and inner-city ministry. The Urban Internship Fund will award grants to congregations and church-related organizations for programs that offer pastoral ministry internships to seminary students. Grant amounts will vary in size based on congregational needs.

The Greater Milwaukee Synod and Outreach for Hope are offering the grants for the purpose of equipping future church leaders in an urban or inner-city context, and providing congregations that would provide a strong and supportive internship experience with funds to help cover a portion of the cost.

Congregations submitting applications should be prepared to meet the following qualifications:

  1. Congregation is located in, or serves, an inner-city or urban population.
  2. Congregation is an approved seminary internship site. (Proof of approval is required at time of application).
  3. Congregation has existed for a minimum of three (3) years.
  4. Congregation is willing, and has the financial resources, to pay for a portion of the internship cost. (Congregation’s commitment, and the full cost of the internship, are required fields on the application).
