Mason County Sheriff to Attend the State of the Union

February 6, 2023

On Tuesday night, Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole will attend the State of the Union as a guest of Congressman John Moolenaar. Sheriff Cole has served Mason County in the Sheriff's Office for nearly four decades and has been Sheriff since 2013. Moolenaar invited Sheriff Cole because of his dedication to public service and keeping Mason County residents safe.

"Sheriff Cole is a well-respected leader in law enforcement in our state. He has spent his life serving Mason County and it is an honor to recognize his contributions to our community," said Moolenaar. "Sheriff Cole has also seen firsthand the damage the fentanyl crisis has done to communities across Michigan and he understands how President Biden's policies at the southern border have allowed more fentanyl to enter the country and make its way to Michigan. It is an important issue facing our nation and Biden needs to address it."

"It is a tremendous honor to receive Congressman Moolenaar's invitation to attend this special event. I will be thinking of my family and the people of Mason County as I join Americans from across the country in the House for the State of the Union. I hope President Biden will honor the hardworking men and women of law enforcement, and talk about the fentanyl crisis, which is hurting so many Michigan communities," said Cole.

In 2021, Sheriff Cole was named Sheriff of the Year by the Michigan Sheriff's Association.
