Update from our Deported Veterans chapter!

September 13, 2019

Veterans For Peace Chapter 182 in Tijuana has been busy this month with humanitarian efforts.  They continue to provide drinking water to one of the many shelters set up in Tijuana for the asylum seekers.  They also facilitate the distributions of donations from several human rights organizations.  The chapter also participates in the Border Church in Playas De Tijuana and feeding people who are unhoused every Sunday.

They are busy planning for the annual Peace One Day March that will be held on September 22nd in Tijuana that honors International Peace Day, a day adopted by the United Nations in 2001 creating an annual day of global ceasefire and non-violence.

Chapter 182 has also been busy providing support for our deported veterans.  The chapter has helped with applying for Humanitarian Parole by CBP so veterans can go to VA Hospital in San Diego, a very difficult process.  In the meantime, our veterans could use your support!

Raul Herrera is a deported Air Force veteran.  Raul has chronic lung issues related to welding while on active duty with the Air Force.   He also has chronic cardiac issues.  Currently our chapter is helping Raul find stable housing and helping to support him during his hospitalization stays.  However, it's critical that they receive financial support to continue these efforts.

Can you help with a donation today?  With your donation, Chapter 182 can begin to establish and Emergency Reserve Fund to help with cases that require additional support.
