From the so-called Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP) policy to the latest anti-asylum rule, the Trump administration is systematically destroying asylum in the United States.

People of faith and goodwill in the United States and beyond are saying “Enough! Save Asylum. Safety and security is an internationally-protected right.” The materials on this web site will help you educate your congregations, communities, families, and friends about the dangers of the current U.S. asylum policy.

#Faith4Asylum is a project of the Interfaith Immigration Coalition (IIC). This campaign is about ending Remain in Mexico/MPP and other cruel asylum policies of the U.S. government, as well as restoring the promise and protection of asylum in the United States. Our diverse faith traditions believe that “welcoming the traveler” and treating newcomers as we would God are part of our human social contract.

“When a stranger sojourns with you in your land, you shall not do him wrong. You shall treat the stranger who sojourns with you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.” (Leviticus 19:33-34)

“Worship Allah and associate nothing with Him, and to parents do good, and to relatives, orphans, the needy, the near neighbor, the neighbor farther away, the companion at your side, the traveler.” (An-Nisaa’ 4:36)

The IIC is made up of 55 national, faith-based organizations brought together across many theological traditions with a common call to seek just policies that lift up the sacred dignity of every individual. In partnership, we work to protect the rights, dignity, and safety of all refugees and migrants.

Add your voice to the #Faith4Asylum campaign. Help bring an end to these unjust policies and protect the sacred humanity of all people.

“Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.” (Hebrews 13:2)

“All human beings are the reflection of one and the same Lord. Recognise ye the whole human race as one.” (Guru Gobind Singh

About the Photo: When people request asylum at the border, U.S. officials remove their shoelaces before detaining them, reportedly for their own safety. But when migrants are sent back to Mexico to await their court hearings, they do not get their shoelaces back. This marks them as “easy prey” for criminals, because it identifies them as vulnerable people.
