KCCI 8 News promotes three journalists into new roles
KCCI promoted three journalists to new roles with the station, KCCI News Director Allison Smith announced.Weekend Morning anchor Scott Carpenter will move to weekdays to join central Iowa’s most-watched morning news team as an additional anchor on KCCI 8 This Morning, covering news and traffic. Carpenter joined KCCI in December 2020. Reporter Nicole Tam will anchor weekend mornings and become KCCI’s first anchor of Asian-American heritage. She joined the station in March 2022 from her home state of Hawaii. Reporter Amanda Rooker will assume the role of chief political reporter. Rooker joined KCCI in July 2021, and she quickly became a leader in political coverage. She reported from the legislature, researched fact checks on political ads and co-moderated a debate between Iowa attorney general candidates.“Great journalism starts with great storytellers. These talented journalists will cover the stories that matter to people in central Iowa,” KCCI News Director Allison Smith said.“These promotions have been earned through service and hard work,” KCCI President and General Manager Brian Sather said. “I join my colleagues across KCCI in congratulating these team members. Their dedication represents our continuing mission to be Iowa’s News Leader.”The promotions will take effect in January.
