Our Mission

The LGLC’s mission is to permanently protect the land that protects Lake George.  As an accredited, nonprofit land trust, the LGLC works with willing landowners and other partners to protect land that protects the world-renowned water quality of Lake George and the natural resources of the Lake George watershed.

The LGLC’s success depends upon the generosity and passion of people who love Lake George and want it to remain clean and beautiful for future generations. Guided by an ethic rooted in conservation, we are committed to stewardship, education, and collaboration as we work to fulfill our mission.

Thanks to experienced and passionate staff, strong leadership from a dedicated Board, guidance from our national network, our local partners, and a diverse group of financial supporters, the LGLC is able to do its job by focusing on one of the most cost-effective and efficient methods of protecting the lake: land conservation.

This distinction signifies LGLC’s commitment to meeting national standards for excellence, as a transparent, efficient, and trustworthy organization.

Accredited land trusts are authorized to display a seal indicating to the public that they meet national standards for excellence, uphold the public trust and ensure that conservation efforts are permanent. Download this brochure, or visit LandTrustAccreditation.org for more information about the accreditation process and its standards.
