Southern Regional Water Call
Dear Southern leaders,

Please join us for a virtual regional convening on Friday, June 9 at 1:00 EDT/12:00 CDT to discuss advancing water policy that prioritizes frontline communities from a Southern perspective.

We have now spent more than two years hosting the Southern Regional Water Call. During that time we have gotten to know each other and learned about the unique water challenges in the South while also seeing that our work is deeply connected. It is time to move on to the next phase of the Southern water work, so this will be the final Southern Regional Water Call hosted by Taproot Earth.

We're ready to start moving together, so this call will be focused on several groups that are already advancing Southern water work. We will hear from three organizations who help anchor existing formations and are ready to shepherd this call into the next phase:

1. PolicyLink, which co-chairs the Water Equity and Climate Resilience Caucus (WECR)
2. The Water Collaborative of Greater New Orleans, Southern co-chair of WECR
3. Taproot Earth, which is launching the Gulf to Appalachia Climate Action Strategy

Taproot Earth is a part of the Water Equity and Climate Resilience (WECR) Caucus, a national network of frontline leaders and allies advancing solutions at the intersection of water, climate, and justice. Since its establishment in 2018, the Caucus has grown to include over 100 core members, allies, and supporters across the US, with significant representation in cities in the South, West, and Great Lakes regions. We envision water security and climate resilience in frontline communities of color and low-income communities. Our mission is to honor water, promote generational water security, and build frontline climate resilience through federal and state policy advocacy that advances equity for communities at risk of losing access to water due to climate impacts or systems failure.

Email kdix@tapoot.earth with any questions and we look forward to talking to y'all on the call Friday, June 9, at 1:00 EDT/12:00 CDT.

In solidarity,

Kendall & Taproot Earth
