Main Purpose of Job

One of the responsibilities of the Maryland Department of Health's (MDH) Prevention and Health Promotion Administration's (PHPA) Center for Immunization is to provide Vaccine for Children (VFC) vaccinations to VFC-enrolled providers for administration to VFC-eligible children in the State of Maryland. This position will serve as the main person who is responsible for the review and approval of VFC provider vaccine inventories and orders.

In addition, this position will be responsible for responding to Vaccine Storage Unit Temperature Excursion reports submitted by VFC providers, as well as for taking appropriate actions to ensure the viability of VFC vaccines. This position will also support contact center phone coverage, process new VFC enrollments, and assist with the scheduling of VFC site reviewer visits. Furthermore, this position will be responsible for processing VFC vaccine returns and wastage.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: One year of experience performing administrative staff, clerical, clerical technical, or secretarial work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a Non-Commissioned Officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations, in accordance with agency laws and policies, on a year-for-year basis, for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should have customer service experience, as well as experience completing inventories and/or orders. The desired candidate should also have experience recording statistical data into a spreadsheet.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Candidates may be responsible for providing their own transportation, as needed, to access meetings, remote locations, and job destinations, as assigned.
