Today marked the final day of the #SummitForDemocracy and the start of a "year of action" for democracy. The Summit's programs and panels emphasized that democracies require support from all sectors. Inspirational testimonies from around the world reaffirmed that inclusion and diversity, anti-corruption measures, #TechForGood, free and fair elections, a free press and governments and institutions accountable to the people are necessary for democracy to flourish.

Jannatul Ferdous survived a fire that burned 60 percent of her body. Realizing there weren't many burn-related survivors represented in the disability rights movement, she founded Voice & Views, a human rights organization in Bangladesh that fights for the rights and inclusion of women with burn-related disabilities. To train other women with disabilities on how to influence disability rights policies and decision-making at the national and local levels, she participated in IFES's Power to Persuade program, funded by USAID's Nagorik program. She says women being able to take those messages and lessons back to their rural communities makes a huge impact. https://bit.ly/3SXvbxI
