It is with great sadness for us, and yet tremendous joy for him, that we announce Howard (Bubba) Ray McCann Jr. went to be with Jesus. Bubba went to be with the Lord on November 7, 2021 surrounded by his family at the age of 62. He was born on October 8, 1959, to Howard McCann, Sr., and Joan Dell Melton Richard.

Howard, or as most people who knew him, “Pastor Bubba” graduated from Fatima High School in 1979. On May 14, 1980, Bubba met Pastor Jacob Aranza, and Jacob introduced him to Jesus. His conversion was a radical one that led him to Bible College in Lindale, Texas. It was there that he met the love of his life, his brown eyed girl, Tracy. Together they served in a ministry called Agape Force for 8 years where they traveled the world to tell hurting people about Jesus.

After bible college, he worked for his stepfather, Oran Richard, at Industrial Helicopters while actively serving at Crossroads Church. Many of the people he discipled there still attend that church today and are passionately in love with Jesus. Later he started a discipleship school at Our Saviors Church Broussard, Pastored by Jacob Aranza. After a few years in Broussard, Louisiana, he felt led to start a church in Jennings, Louisiana. Our Savior’s Church Jennings began on Super Bowl Sunday in January of 2000 with his wife and kids in tow. His vision to reach people in Southwest Louisiana would lead him to start two more campuses. One in Eunice, LA and a third in Crowley, LA. There is now over a thousand members. Bubba was a man who never met a stranger. He had a talent for making you feel like you were the most loved person in the world. His accomplishments were far more than most will ever know, but his greatest prize was his beautiful wife Tracy, and their six children. Bubba also had a love for duck and goose hunting. His second home was the rice fields in Thornwell, Louisiana, where the smell of shotgun shells and his endless stories were told. If you ever had the privilege to hunt with him, you knew he was the best shot. You always walked away with something, even if it was just a good memory!

We will truly never know how many people he reached, but one thing is for sure, he’s leaving a legacy that will outlive the test of time. His love for Jesus and People was unmatched, and there will never be another like “Bubba Duck” McCann. He was truly a “one of a kind” guy and did more in his lifetime with what talents he had than most do with many more talents.

I Corinthians 13 says that we can prophesy, know all there is to know, give all our money to the poor and have all faith to remove mountains; but if we don’t have love, we are nothing! Bubba McCann had it all! He loved God and people more than any one we know!

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 37 years, Tracy Cassidy McCann; mother and step father, Joan (Oran) Richard; step mother, Theresa Grady; five sons, Zachary (Claire) McCann of Nashville, TN, Andrew (Julie) McCann of Lafayette, LA, Mathew (Rachel) McCann of Nashville, TN, Nathan and Luke McCann of Jennings and one daughter, Olivia McCann of Jennings.

He also leaves 9 grandchildren, Elisha, Isaac, Amelia, Peter, Timothy, Caroline, Avery, Eden, Everest, and one on the way in April. One brother, Todd (Bernetta) McCann, one sister, Pamela McCann of Lafayette, LA, four step sisters, Connie St. Romain of Sunset, LA, Patty (Kenny) Shuster of Dallas, TX, Denise (David) Lanclos of Lafayette, LA, Suzanne (David) Larkin of Dallas, TX; one half brother, Michael (Cheri) Richard of Lafayette, LA, and one step brother, Lee (Jodi) Richard of Houston, Tx.

He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Ray McCann, Sr. and his step sister Connie’s husband, Bryan St. Romain.

In lieu of flowers, Our Savior’s Church has set up a special fund to bless the McCann family. Contributions can be made at oscconnect.com/give. Choose “McCann Benevolence” in the drop-down menu.

  9. Aunt Tracy and family,
One of my fondest memories Of Uncle Howard will always be his fun and lively refereeing of our white elephant game at the Christmas Eve gatherings.
His energetic love and joy for the family always filled the room.
I'm sure that this same spirit captured so many during his lifetime here. Sending love to each of you, and hoping you know that my prayers are with you all.

  10. I met Pastor Bubba in South Africa at Every Nation Church Potchefstroom in 2006. Just the way he said that he loved hot & spicy food (Cajun style), his message was very compelling and to the point and stirred many people into repentance.

I felt compelled to invite him home for a fiery Indian meal, and our family spent time with him in fellowship & food. After the dinner (he did enjoy it and did not bat an eyelid with the spice and heat), as we sat down, he went on his knees, laid his hands on my feet, and said that these feet would travel with the Gospel of Peace to many nations.

Little did I know that later that prophetic calling would be fulfilled, and I would go into becoming a Minister of the Word for nations.

Even though I met him only once, the impact I can see is a lifetime.

The McCann family is blessed and privileged to have known him, and as much as he is an irreplaceable loss to you, we just wanted to share that his loss is also a big void for many around the world.

May God bless the family and all he knew with Grace and Peace in this challenging time. We celebrate with you his life on earth.

  11. "Earths Lose is Heavens Gain" Heartfelt Condolence to the McCann Family. May the Lord comfort each of you as only he can. As we Celebrate Pastor Bubba's life and legacy our hearts are heavy for your lose. I am eternally grateful to the Lord for Blessing Louisiana with Pastor Bubba.

  12. We met Bubba when we served in ministry together over 30 years ago. He truly had a Pastor’s heart and a love for the lost and hurting and was just an all around nice guy. I know he impacted a lot of people’s lives while here on earth and he’ll be greatly missed. Our prayers go with Tracy and the children to walk in the peace of God during this time of transition.

  13. Pastor Bubba, my brother from another mother.
When we met in Palm Springs in 2006 we were introduced by a mutual friend pastor Sam Hawkens. Pastor Bubba visited us in May 2006 and we became close friends. I always described him as my best American friend. His family became my family and our family became his family. My prayers are with Mrs Tracy and his family and OSC.
    We salute you MOG.

  14. "Pastor Bubba" an amazing man of God! My life has been blessed more than words can express from knowing him. He always made me want more in my walk with the Lord. I can only imagine the treasure that has been layed up in heaven for this amazing man. May the God of peace cover Tracy and their children during this time. Thank you Jesus for the honor of knowing Pastor Bubba!

  15. A true man of God and a fighter. Bubba was an encouragement to me in th 80's and even today. He ran well and he stayed the course. Blessing to the family and may the peace of God rest on you.

  16. Thanks Pastor Bubba for inviting me to OSC over 11yrs ago. We met when I used to volunteer at the VA nursing home. You would come do church service there for the residents.
I’ll never forget the word that the Lord gave me about you when I was in prayer one day: “he is a man after My own heart”. I knew I was in the right place.

  17. We are so sorry for your loss, our prayers will be with the beautiful McCann family and all the communities he served so well. Bubba was a kind person who wanted all those around him to feel God’s love, to glorify God, and bring people home to Him.

  18. Thank you Bubba for your service to our Father. May God comfort your family knowing that one day we will all be together with our precious Lord Jesus Christ.
