I want to share with you a photo/poem reflection called “The Leaving,” sent to me by an RCC supporter, Mary Ann Roberts, in gratitude for the work of the Rachel Carson Council and of “Momentary Meditations,” by Stephen Shick, found on our web site every Tuesday.

“The Leaving” is about moving on to a new season and leaving behind the worst of the old. It touched me deeply as I look forward to 2021 and the hope and challenges of a new environment and justice-oriented administration.

Rachel Carson wrote often about the need for a sense of wonder, of imagination, and feeling in our lives, to give us strength and empathy to carry onward.

Are you an environmentalist with a sense of wonder who is also a writer, poet, or artist? Do you have gifts of creativity, like Mary Ann Roberts, to share with others, as we work to protect the planet?

This is a call to share your creative work – poetry, paintings, photos or short photo essays and more – with the many thousands of members of the Rachel Carson Council and beyond.

I would love to see and share your gifts with others. Send your creative work that carries on the legacy of Rachel Carson to me, Bob Musil, at: office@rachelcarsoncouncil.org

Now here is “The Leaving,” a gift to you and me from Mary Ann Roberts, as we look forward together.
