OUR INITIATIVES

Preservation Services

Columbus Landmarks offers homeowners within the greater Columbus metro area free scope of work sessions on their historic homes as part of our Home Preservation Program (HPP). We help guide property owners through visioning, project planning, historic registration, and design review processes. We also manage a list of preferred master craft trades workers, available to active Columbus Landmarks members. Additionally, we administer two dedicated programs, the Endangered Properties Fund and the Home Preservation Loan Program assisting communities in their efforts to stabilize and protect residential and commercial properties, respectively. Call us today at 614-221-4508 for your Preservation Services needs!

Education & Outreach

Columbus Landmarks furthers preservation through a variety of education and outreach initiatives. From our congressionally-recognized Building Arts Studio workforce development program addressing workforce shortages on the trades to our beloved tours, Columbus Landmarks puts on a variety of high-impact programs intended to raise awareness and understanding of how preservation protects our environment, neighborhoods, and shared understanding of each other. Reserve your space within our Upcoming Events section.

Saving Endangered Sites

Each and every day Columbus Landmarks works with our neighborhoods to protect our places of cultural and architectural heritage. Each year we receive nominations directly from community members concerning sites in immediate danger of being lost. We announce this community-driven Most Endangered Sites listing each year during our Annual Meeting in Preservation Month. Additionally, we are home to The Atlas, an interactive map presenting historic places and landmarks along the spectrum of Saved, Watch List, Endangered and Lost.

Research & Evaluation

Columbus Landmarks is home to a highly accredited and diverse staff, with their research and evaluation efforts funded by the National Science Foundation, Housing and Urban Development, Environmental Protection Agency, The Institute of Museum and Library Services and numerous R-1 University teams. Staff have also served as authors, guest speakers and keynotes at a variety of high-impact forums including National Public Radio, The Crichton Club, Columbus Metropolitan Club, The Royal Society, and Technological Horizons in Education (T.H.E.).
