You’re invited: Living Room Conversations with Catholic Climate Covenant in 2022

Dear Friend,

We know the urgency and opportunity for meaningful climate solutions has never been greater, and that the Catholic voice can make a real difference. We dearly need to bring ourselves and our Church more fully into the pursuit of climate solutions, and in care for creation as an integral aspect of our faith. During these exceptional times we know we must do so in ever greater dialogue and collaboration, especially with you, our constituents and partners.

Join us in 2022 for small Living Room Conversations!

As we enter this new year, we are committed to listening and learning how we might better realize the potential for the Catholic community. Today we  invite you to join us throughout 2022 for new, small, one-hour “Living Room Conversations.”  These monthly gatherings will include approximately 15  people with Dan or Jose, for one hour, in candid dialogue. The conversations will be held on the last Thursday of each month at 1 pm and 8 pm ET, and be centered on a particular issue, program, or constituency, with occasional special guests.

Each month we want to hear from you and build community:

  • What is working and what is not – for you, for the Covenant, the world at large?

  • What ideas or solutions do you have for the challenges you see?

  • How can we work better together, and with others?

We are grateful to share this journey with you and are already blessed by your dedication and support for our common work for our common home. Many of you persistently and faithfully swim upstream in your parishes, dioceses, and other communities. We are inspired by your dedication to and support for the spirit of Laudato Si’.

We have done great things together. In the past year we held a highly successful virtual conference where we offered each other ideas, teachings, actions, and HOPE. We gathered with our parish groups for inspiring earth Day and Feast of St. Francis programs where we went green, prayed, and advocated for better policies. We lifted our voice with our bishops and other church leaders, legislators, and thousands of U.S. Catholics for climate action. Our young people and allies fasted for climate action. And now we are joining the Vatican and Catholics around the world in registering and acting through the new Laudato Si’ Action Platform.

As we enter a new year of transformational possibilities, aspiring always to bend the moral arc of the universe towards justice, mercy and compassion, we are looking forward to greater dialogue and community with you in our new and shared efforts. We know we will benefit from your experiences and counsel. Your input can help the Covenant can be an even more effective partner with you, and for all with whom we work and serve.
