Ever wondered what the Nonviolent Cities Project is? Join us for this free webinar! Ruth Ann Angus from Nonviolent Morro Bay and Pace e Bene trainer Rivera Sun will offer a fun and participatory introduction to Nonviolent Cities. We’ll explore what a Nonviolent City is and how to get started. Ruth Ann Angus will offer organizing tips from her efforts in Morro Bay. You will learn why 50+ cities are working to infuse every aspect of civic life from schools to businesses to city government with nonviolent solutions and strategies. We’ll break down the big vision to the tangible first steps anyone can take to start making a shift in their community.

Ruth Ann Angus is the Director of the peace and nonviolence organization Yes We Can Peacebuilders in Morro Bay, CA and Executive Assistant to Fr. John Dear, Executive Director of The Beatitudes Center for the Nonviolent Jesus. Ruth Ann has lived in Morro Bay for 35 years and coordinates the Nonviolent Cities Project with city officials, police, civic organizations, humanitarian organizations, and members of the community. She is a longtime journalist, freelance writer and photographer who is published in many national, regional, and local newspapers, magazines, and online publications. Ruth Ann is a 26-year board member of the Morro Bay National Estuary Program and sits on the special Education and Public Outreach Committee with that organization. She is a past board member of the local Audubon Society and both a past board member and current consultant to the People of Faith for Justice of San Luis Obispo, California. Ruth Ann has a degree in Marketing/Merchandising from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising and a Business Certificate from Pepperdine University. In the past she has served in the 1976 presidential campaign for Governor Jerry Brown of California and attained an appointment as Special Assistant to the Governor on his 1978-1979 state staff. She has worked in the Fashion industry in Los Angeles, California doing public relations writing and photography, was a publicity writer and photographer during the 1960s-70s in the folk music industry and was retired from Union Bank of California as a Systems Analyst. Ruth Ann was also an activist during the 1960s and 70s participating in anti-war and civil rights protest marches in the northeastern and southern states.

Rivera Sun is an activist and the author of numerous books, including The Dandelion Insurrection and The Way Between. She is the program coordinator for Campaign Nonviolence and Nonviolent Cities Program. She trains people nationwide in strategy for nonviolent campaigns and trained in peacebuilding at the River Phoenix Center for Peacebuilding. www.riverasun.com
