GLOBAL LIVER INSTITUTE
Thank you for joining us at the 2023 A3 Learning Experience! We look forward to seeing you in 2024! September 13-16, 2024
Advanced Advocacy Academy (A3) is a year-round liver advocacy program for patients, caregivers, and other interested parties featuring training programs and advocacy opportunities, with the hallmark annual 4-day Learning Experience providing comprehensive advocacy preparation each September.
The 2023 A3: The Learning Experience took place on September 29 through October 2, in Washington D.C. This year, A3 brought together over 50 members of the liver community representing various disease states and roles within the liver community who share a passion for improving liver health. The 4 day learning experience focused on the theme of Cultivating Comfort and Ease for the Liver Health Advocate.
The weekend began with a Night of Heroes evening reception recognizing the many individuals who selflessly take the time to share their lived experiences to activate change and improve liver health for all. The following two days were dedicated to engaging in educational sessions and workshops, designed to equip and prepare advocates for their hill day visits, on the final day. Additionally, participants received a copy of the Liver AdvoKit™—an interactive workbook aligned with A3’s core pillars, designed to complement and enhance the learning experience during workshops.

Global Excellence in Advocacy Award
Lorrinda Gray-Davis, President, Transplant Recipients International Organization and A3 alum was presented the inaugural Global Excellence in Advocacy Award for her advocacy efforts in the community and the positive changes she has brought about in healthcare and patient support, especially in the transplant community.
Hill Day
On the final day of the #A3experience, A3 graduates had the invaluable opportunity to put their newly acquired skills into action through a hands-on advocacy experience by participating in a Hill Day on Capitol Hill. Advocates were able to meet with almost 60 Congressional offices to share their concerns about the need for early diagnosis of liver cancer through multi-cancer screenings, preventive services such as obesity treatment, clinical lab services to detect and manage liver disease, and policies supporting living donors.
