Colorado takes steps to promote zero emission vehicles

Last week, Gov. Jared Polis of Colorado signed a executive order that contained many positive initiatives promoting electric vehicles. The state had already taken steps toward transportation electrification, including a $5,000 EV tax credit and a goal of 940,000 EVs on the road by 2030.

This executive order builds upon this through:

  • A new interdepartmental workgroup to develop programs and strategies to support transportation electrification
  • A Colorado Zero Emission Vehicle program
  • Focusing all remaining funds from the $70 million Colorado received in the Volkswagen emissions settlement to support transportation electrification
  • Directing the Colorado Department of Transportation to develop an EV policy and plan

Plug In America applauds Colorado for taking these steps and strongly encourages other states to take similar measures to invest in clean electric vehicles.
