PA IPL Creation Care Volunteer and Tree Form
PA IPL is expanding our Creation Care efforts across the state and we need volunteers to help us plant. This year we will receive and plant or distribute close to 10,000 native plants and trees from the Chesapeake Bay Fund!
Expanding our scope in Northeast PA and North Central PA beyond our original distribution site in Williamsburg, we have new distribution centers in Scranton and Lewisburg. We are actively looking for volunteers to participate in planting events and the removal of invasive species across the state.
If you are interested in volunteering or can help in identifying additional sites please register here. We as ask all participants to observe social distancing and masking. All PA IPL planting and distribution events will be held outside and will be COVID safe.
Trees will be delivered to the three centers in March or April and the planting season will go through June but other work is always available year round. The trees come either as seedlings or as bareroot. Instructional videos will be available and at PA IPL planting events we will have captains present to help lead and provide tools to use.
We need help:
*Planting
*Labeling and Potting trees
*Tending trees prior to planting and after being planted
*Distributing trees to property owners
*Selecting and locking in sites to plant
*Captains to lead or assist with planting events
Planting events will be held across Chesapeake Bay Watershed, especially in Blair, Centre, Huntington, Union, Snyder, Northumberland, Luzerne, and Lackawanna counties. All three must be planted in Pennsylvania. Trees can be planted on private, municipal/public, or congregational properties with permission.
If you are also interested in accepting trees yourself, we will have a limited number of unreserved trees available.
***All trees are distributed on a first-come-first-serve basis and we cannot guarantee specific species.***
