February 2022 Alexandria Hub Updates
City Budget Advocacy
In January, the Alexandria Hub sent a letter to the Mayor, City Council and Manager on the need for specific climate and energy equity programs in the FY23 budget. Hub members will be meeting with City Council members and following the budget process this month and next. Our hub priorities are to:
- Increase funding for low/moderate-income home weatherization and energy programs
- Restore funding to the Energy and Climate Change Action Plan to ensure the plan helps vulnerable communities
- Support the City Energy Manager’s supplemental budget request
February 8, 7:00 PM Hub Meeting
We will meet Tuesday, February 8, 7:00-8:00pm via Zoom. Our hub monthly meetings occur on the second Tuesday of the month.
Other Activities
Hub members are looking into how the group and congregations can support tree planting initiatives in city heat islands, planning a spring interfaith event, and engaging in the City’s update to its Energy and Climate Change Action Plan.
