Letter from the CEO

Dear Friends of Together Center,

We really did it! Together, we built a new Together Center human services hub topped by 280 units of affordable housing in downtown Redmond.

What a journey it has been to get to this point! Early on, the Together Center Board and I labeled this campus redevelopment effort an “ultra-marathon-hurdling-obstacle course.” We committed to continue to build partnerships, solve problems, and work on creative solutions to push the project forward until we met an obstacle we could not overcome.

This landmark project challenged everyone to think in new ways and partner deeply across for-profit and nonprofit lines. To everyone who leaned into this bold vision, to the strategic risk, to the intentional partnerships, I offer deep thanks to each and every one of you.

Kim Sarnecki with Board President Angela Kennedy, and Redmond Mayor Angela Birney.

Together, we created a blueprint that is going to be replicated for years to come. I regularly get calls from groups across the region and the country wanting to create something similar. I have met with many people and groups who have said they have talked about something like this, but didn’t know it was possible until now. For those of you working on mission-driven real estate projects - keep pushing forward, to ask for what is needed, and to be persistent.

Thank you all for helping build an even brighter future for Together Center, for the vital nonprofits who care for and empower people to better care for themselves, and for our region that needs scalable solutions to this affordable housing crisis.

Onward Together,
