The Pinch We're In
 Now sticking its head out of the quarantine, the LA Progressive has been chugging along.
Over the past year, you’ve seen that we’ve greatly broadened the range and depth of our coverage, publishing many more articles daily to give readers a wider selection of views.
And currently we’re developing a webcast series designed to reach a younger, more diverse audience.
We’ve also cleaned up our magazine’s front page to make it quicker loading and easier to navigate.
Good stuff. We’re excited.
At the same time, Sharon has been engaged with the New Day Pacifica team that wants to streamline Pacifica’s radio network operations so its stations can reach m ore listeners and find firmer footing financially.
She is deeply committed to this cause, believing that the Pacifica radio network could and should offer vital counterweight to the right-wing media juggernaut gripping the country.
Important stuff, too.
In the recently completed election, Sharon’s New Day Pacifica team swamped the opposition—56% voted yes, 44% voted no—among listeners. But the losing side are contending that the bylaws give the much smaller staff vote veto power over the thousands of listeners. And “staff”—many of them volunteers who help out here and there—voted for the opposing side 255 to 180.
Which side will prevail?
 Well, zoom calls deep into the night will answer that question—eventually.
Which means that Sharon and all her essential contributions are largely lost to LA Progressive—and will be even more lost should her side prevail.
What is LA Progressive to do? Cut back on our publishing schedule? Scuttle our webcast plans? Limp along?
 Dreary choices.
What we actually hope to do is greatly expand our subscriber list—by providing frequent polls, surveys, and live interviews—to build our support base. But we can't do that without an appeal for support from you, our readers.
