VIDEO: First of Six Conservation Education Films Released
June 13, 2022

The first of six films in Impact7G’s new “Conservation Education” series is now available on demand. The series is intended for communities, HOAs, and individual property owners seeking guidance on implementing natural resource restoration projects such as prairies, wetlands, rain gardens, and improvements to timber stands. Each video provides viewers answers to common questions about installation and maintenance, and discussions on the benefits of each practice for wildlife, water quality, recreation, and quality of life.

The series begins with an all-too-common issue facing communities and homeowners alike, flash flooding. “Green Infrastructure”, in contrast to underground “gray” stormwater infrastructure, is an encompassing term for primarily above-ground practices that can not only reduce the severity of flash flooding but also provide critical habitat for wildlife and improve local water quality. Our first video, Stormwater Management – The Basics (posted below), discusses these practices and their role in our communities moving forward.

The series is funded in part by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources’ REAP program. Impact7G partnered with Little Village Creative Services of Iowa City to help produce and edit the series. Check out the first video below!
