2019 MFSA Board Nominations
The Methodist Federation for Social Action (MFSA) is seeking people to fill positions on our Program Council and Board of Directors for terms beginning January 2019. Deadline for nominations is Monday, Oct. 22, 2018.

The Board of Directors will select individuals to fill the following positions:
  - Co-president (2 year term)
 - At-Large position(s), as appropriate (3 year term)

The Program Council will select two leaders to fill vacant seats on the board of directors:
- Program Council Co-chair (unexpired term ending 2020)
- Southeastern Jurisdiction Representative (3 year term)
- Western Jurisdiction Representative (1 year term, renewable for 3 years)

Position Expectations:

Every board member of MFSA is expected to:
   - Understand and know the mission and purpose of the organization;
   - Select & Assess Executive Director;
   - Ensure effective organizational planning;
   - Secure adequate funding;
   - Enhance organization’s “public face;”
   - Assure legal & ethical integrity and accountability of the organization;
   - Recruit & mentor new board members;
   - Assess board performance;
   - Provide own transportation and food costs when traveling to and from the board meeting. There are limited funds available to assist with these costs when necessary.

Specific Role Expectations:

Co-president: (Monthly commitment 10-12 hours)
   - Manage the work of the Executive Committee of the board and facilitate the work of the larger the board
   - Work closely with the Executive Director to drive the vision and mission of the organization
   - Executive committee call monthly.

Program Council Co-convener: (Monthly commitment 6-8 hours)
   - Co-direct the work of the Program Council;
   - Engage with local chapter representatives and Jurisdictional Representatives;
   - Work closely with the Executive Director to enact the programmatic goals of MFSA; and
   - Executive committee call monthly.

Jurisdictional Representative: (Monthly commitment: 4-6 hours)
   - serve on Program Council and Board of Directors;
   - encourage communication from Chapter leadership about events, best practices, challenges;
   - work with MFSA office to ensure Chapter compliance with forms, membership transmittals, and other needs;
   - Bi-monthly board call.

At-Large Member: (Monthly commitment: 4-6 hours)
   - Provide a diversity of gifts and perspectives that may be missing from the board;
   - Serve on board committees as needed; and
   - Bi-monthly board call.

*Current board members may choose to serve an additional term. Recommendations are made at the discretion of the Nominations Committee/Program Council and final decisions by the Board of Directors.
