Share Your Story with the Vermont FaMLI Coalition

To bring the Vermont voice to the fight for paid leave, the Vermont Family and Medical Leave Insurance (FaMLI) Coalition is collecting stories that highlight the critical need for a permanent federal solution to Paid Family and Medical Leave. The Coalition wants to feature the many faces of paid leave – individuals, children, child care providers, and more – to raise public consciousness about the necessity of this program.

Paid leave is an issue of racial justice, gender equity, disability rights, small business support, military family support, public health, economic growth, and economic justice. A strong paid leave insurance program will benefit everyone.

Please take a moment to share your experience with Vermont FaMLI’s story collection form and help lift up our collective voice for paid leave!

Livestream the Virtual Youth Summit – 3/25, 1:00 pm

Vermont Afterschool and Governor Phil Scott are hosting a Virtual Youth Summit this Thursday, March 24, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. The Virtual Youth Summit is an opportunity for young people (ages 11-18) from across the state to share about their experiences during the COVID-19 crisis, to amplify youth voice, and enhance the understanding of their needs to inform the State of Vermont’s pandemic recovery efforts.

While this event focuses on an age range outside our usual 0 to 8 focus, this format may be of interest to many Alliance members, and it provides a unique opportunity to hear directly from an impacted community.

The livestream will be broadcast on Vermont Afterschool’s YouTube channel.

The Vermont Early Childhood Advocacy Alliance is a statewide coalition formed in 2000 of early childhood professionals, parents, organizations, businesses, and strategic partners committed to improving public policies that impact young children between birth and age eight in the areas of health, safety, food security, economic security, and early care and education.

The Alliance crafts an annual Legislative Agenda in partnership with early childhood organizations, provides year-round advocacy support, and facilitates meaningful interactions with policymakers at key times during the decision making process.
