The Federal Reserve Bank has released a preliminary proposal to update the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), with comments due by February 16, 2021. Join Housing Action, Woodstock Institute, and our Illinois CRA Coalition partners in this first of two sessions to learn about the history of CRA, its critical importance to community economic development, and how we can use this opportunity to potentially incentivize more equitable investments by financial institutions in low-income communities and communities of color. The CRA, passed in 1977, was a game-changer—and now we have the chance to protect and strengthen it for 2021 and beyond.
We hope that you will also register for part two of this CRA series: Banks, Communities & the CRA: Speak Up for a Better Tomorrow on Tuesday, Jan. 19 (10:00–11:30 am CST).
