September 2, 2020 marks the 75th Commemoration of the End of World War II; a war that took the lives of over 405,000 U.S. military personnel. Join us over the next six months to share the memoirs and stories of our soldiers, sailors, marines, and airmen in WWII. Each session will contain a brief lecture and time to discuss the suggested reading. This session is titled "Fighting the Japanese & the First Marine Division from Guadalcanal to Okinawa." This session’s suggested reading is: You'll be Sor-ee by Sidney Phillips & With the Old Breed by Eugene Sledge. The books for each session are just a suggestion, participants do not need to reach session's books to attend.
Facilitator Glenn Flickinger is a local history enthusiast with expertise on a wide range of topics. He hopes participants will enjoy learning more about history while engaging with their community.
